I must go down to the sea again..

I must go down to the sea again, for the call of the running tide

Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;

And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,

And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,

To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;

And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,

And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

Sex with a Cigar

Thought about this the other day, as hubbie fired up this thing called a Mega-

Do men really think having a big fat phallic symbol smoldering while shoved in their mouth is macho, or what? I don't get that whole thing. I mean when they are unlit, some of them actually smell OK, which honey says is from the cognac they are flavored with or soaked in or whatever. Once ignited though they smell like, well, burning shrubbery to me.

Apparently cigars are measured in "ring" size, a guide I found stats "A cigar's ring gauge is the diameter of the cigar and is measured in 64ths of an inch. The chart below will help you visualize common cigar ring gauges used in manufacturing.

The one honey was puffing on is supposed to be a 66, which according to above would make it over an inch thick. If his doctor saw that, well, there would likely be a lecture coming. He bought a half dozen to take on vacation. Thankfully I convince him NOT to smoke these rancid things in the car!!!

Making a Day Brighter for someone

Going to the doctors office the other day, in the hallway was this Marine sitting there alone, actually kind of worried looking, sitting outside the lab. i walked up and said "Thank you sergeant for all you do" He looked stunned, and reaching for my outstretched hand,  slowly standing up, saying "Thank you m'am" and shaking my hand.

Thanking him for all that he does made me feel good all day, I hope it helped him have a better day as well.

Thats it for today folks...Canice

Hello again, its ME, the chronic complainer

Depressed and frustrated, she sat sobbing in her robe, unable to go to work. Gloomily watching something on TV, tears gently dribbled down her cheeks and into the breakfast she had prepared...

The economy is still in the crapper. I am not referring to the rosy news from Wall Street, but Main Street USA. Unemployment is still way up there.

National security- face it, we have what we have only because the guys and gals in the trenches  doing the work to protect this country, and to insure a continuance of law and order, despite the fact that the nations "Top Cop" is a political hack, with no more sense than a sack of hammers.

We are piling on debt, so should our economy fail, it will drag the rest of the world with it. Inflation will run amok, and libtards will go apoplectic as anarchy reins. Wars have started over such things.

I think about all this crap all the time. I have to. Its my job to see things get done, and lately I can't do my job. Cancelled contracts means layoff on production, assembly, sales, and yes project management. My colleagues at HQ write me short emails about how they have nothing left to do until the economy gets moving- can only do so much planning, but unless someone says "OK, we can afford it, lets do it" we sit idle...and so the orders for stuff DON'T go out, and the vendors, don't build ...blah blah blah.. i know you know what I am saying. You might even be mad at me, since i still have a job. I am not going to be sorry for that. I took a huge cut in salary to keep my job- sort of agree to this or you are out. Now its going for round 2.

"Oh, about the pension plan, we are thinking of making that entirely funded by you, no matching funds, no employer contributions..." just like that. Cut my wages then tell me I am on my own for the retirement. I saw this coming. I will be OK, but many won't be.

My retirement has been indefinitely postponed, until I figure out if us and the dog will be sharing the same canned gruel, or not.

Its all pretty damn depressing. And so now I am supposed to get all worked up about Arizona's new law? Which only supports existing federal law? Nobody is going to get stopped and asked for their papers, th ats horse pucky and they morons spouting that need to shut the hell up...I (unlike El Presidente and his jingoist AG) have read the law...incidental to investigation of a crime or infraction, police may with reasonable cause inquire to the nationality and status of a person..pretty fricking simple people, they DO THAT NOW...difference is now it will also be a state crime,a nd they can haul you in  and turn you over to ICE.  Good...

Don't get me started on our stupid ass California State Gubment...OH, and thanks LA, you broke haven for libertards, for making our state a magnet for illegal immigration with your sanctuary status...

Political correctness and cultural intolerance

Political correctness and cultural intolerance

How do we teach our children any tolerance for each other in a multi-cultural society when we continue to allow and in some cases support institutional stupidity…

This month in Morgan Hill CA, five students wore the American flag on Cinco de Mayo which has sparked controversy because the administrators there sought to have the boys turn their shirts inside out ( to hide the flag image) or be suspended from school. For what, being out of sync with the spirit of Mexicans first, Americans second?

Cinco de Mayo isn’t even a mandatory holiday in Mexico, rather is a date of observance for a battle where the Mexicans defeated the French invaders in 1862 – as quoted from a article on Wikipedia:

According to a paper published by the UCLA Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture about the origin of the observance of Cinco de Mayo in the United States, the modern American focus on that day first started in California in the 1860's in response to the resistance to French rule in Mexico. The 2007 paper notes that "The holiday, which has been celebrated in California continuously since 1863, is virtually ignored in Mexico.”

Last year in Utah, a student was accused of being a cross dresser because he wore a kilt to school.

Principal Craig Jessop told the 14-year-old Gavin McFarland that the outfit could be misconstrued as cross-dressing and forced McFarland to change his clothes. McFarland removed the kilt, hand-sewn over 40 hours by his mother, and wore shorts the rest of the day.

In both cases the school later admitted their first instincts were wrong.

In both cases, I think they missed the opportunity to actually teach something.

How hard is it to explain that Americans should respect the American flag, and it is honored for “…the Republic for which it stands...”?

How about teaching the students that Americans of Mexican descent celebrates Cinco de Mayo because it represents the resilience of the Mexican people to overcome impossible odds?

How about education of students that Celts wear kilts, and that the kilt pattern has significance to the family, known as a Clan? Or the origin of the kilt?

I mean if the schools can’t seem to do anything else, why can’t they get at least this?

Admin's Terror Playbook - "Don't pay attention to that, look over here.."

Or What adds up and what don’t about the Times Square Bombing Attempt?

America is told the attempt is "... a one of a kind amateur goof"

American media buys into the Bloomberg quote "If I had to guess, 25¢, this would be exactly that, somebody who’s homegrown, maybe a mentally deranged person, or somebody with a political agenda that doesn’t like ah, the health care bill or something. It could be anything!”

America sees a CCTV picture of a man removing one shirt to reveal another, near the Nissan Pathfinder containing the bomb

America is told the man in the picture, a middle aged white guy, is sought for questions…

I (and countless millions) see the same picture and ask, how do they know he’s white…maybe he’s Pakistani, or Indian, or Hispanic – and to me he looks like he has some hair missing, maybe middle aged pattern baldness?

Meanwhile, Chinese media reports:

NEW YORK, May 2 (Xinhua) -- A top Pakistani Taliban commander has taken credit for a failed car bomb attack on Saturday in New York City's Times Square area, a media website reported on Sunday.

Qari Hussain Mehsud, the top bomb maker for the Movement of Taliban in Pakistan, has said he takes "full responsibility for the recent attack in the USA," according to a report on The Long War Journal website.

Qari Hussain made the claim on an audiotape accompanied by images that was released on a Youtube website that calls itself the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan News Channel...The Channel was created on April 30, one day before the failed bomb attack on Times Square.

"The attack is a revenge for the great & valuable martyred leaders of mujahideen," Qari Hussain was quoted as saying in the audiotape. He also said the attempted plot was "revenge for the Global American interference & terrorism in Muslim countries."

The suspect now in American custody claims to have acted alone

Many doubt that…I am one of them.

He may have acted alone, but surely his inspiration originated in the tribal areas of northern Pakistan.

He supposedly was born in Kashmir, a region hotly contested by Pakistan and India. It is also the birth place of the Lashkar-e-Taiba group, which has repeatedly claimed that its main aim is to destroy the Republic of India and to annihilate Hinduism and Judaism. Lashkar-e-Taiba has declared Hindus and Jews to be the "enemies of Islam", as well as India and Israel to be the "enemies of Pakistan"

This group has carried out attacks on India, including the deadly attack on Mumbai in 2008.

And there are lots of other groups, all loosely affiliated with the Taliban and/or al Qaeda…

The former CIA analyst Bruce Riedel, who oversaw the White House strategy review on Afghanistan and Pakistan last year, cautioned against dismissing a Taliban role.

“They have said they want to attack inside the United States,” he said before the arrest was announced, adding that it was possible that the incident involved “some Pakistani-American who has never built a car bomb before in his life but who is being coached either by phone or on the internet”.

 Gee, there’s a thought
