We spent the day today looking for a ranchette further away from town, and stopped to eat a sandwich along the way. Honey says "what do you hear?" and there was no noise at all, absolute silence, except for the occasional bird and the rustling of the trees in the wind.
Thats the way it was when we moved here to where we live nearly 11 years ago..and in that time there has been steady buildup of homes, then stores, shopping centers, our two lane farm road has become a divided 4 lane, the police patrol overhead in helicopters day and night, and because of the increased traffic, now it takes a good hour to get to work everyday (it used to be 15 minutes)
We have decided we need to work several more years to save enough money to retire, and that being the case, no need to do that AND have to put up with the hassle of increasingly urbanized life. Besides, it might be good to live a little further out, because when this used to be farm country, we knew our neighbors...and we looked out for each other
