Somedays driving on the interstate freeway to get home, dealing with the traffic and all that goes with that just seems not worth it so I deviate to leaving down town, cross the river and take the river road to Freeport and then recross and go home...even though its a bit longer miles wise, its worth it to me to relax and enjoy the views...I hope you enjoy, I am planning to add to these from time to time...

Don't you just love driving by water? It's very pretty there. Do you fish in the river? What kind of fish do they have? I've heard salmon is in the area somewhere. Yummmmm
ReplyDeleteI agree Canice I am sure I would be driving that way as well there is
ReplyDeletenothing nice than watching water,
An old iron suspension bridge. I think there use to be a small one somewhere in this area of Hickville, but it was torn down ages ago.
ReplyDeleteActually its a draw bridge....look again, you can see the big concrete counter weights
ReplyDeleteI dont fish in the river, too many waterskiers and jet skis, but during the fall there is salmon, and the other fish further down the river is sturgeon...We usually go into th upper American river area and fish for trout...
ReplyDeleteI am reluctant to say anything, but what the hell. It is a suspension drawbridge. That makes it even more interesting. The last drawbridge I crossed was at Jacksonville, Florida and that has been a few years ago. I would love to see more photos of the bridge.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was at university, I had a class where we use to do the stress analysis on trusses. It is the same in a suspension bridge as in a truss, the load has to be transferred out to the pivot points. In this case, there is a break in the middle that makes the problem even more interesting.
ReplyDeleteI used to live in Elverta in 1976.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I am SOOOOOO sorry for you to have lived in Elverta...LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteElverta, THE most God forsaken place I ever lived.LOL
ReplyDeleteGood stuff! I look forward to more.
ReplyDeleteWow you say Sacramento has annexed all the way down to Freeport. There was nothing south of Pocket Road when I lived down there until they built all that off Laguana Road and Elk Grove Blvd.
ReplyDeleteAh Isleton...I miss the crawdad festival
