The Cash For Clunkers program is idiotic anyways unless you do not pay any taxes (in that case it is just another welfare handout) you are just having your tax money redistributed back to your pocket. Put it this way the $4,500 is your (or rather was your) money. All for what? Destroying a perfectly good running vehicle to trade in for another you may not be able to afford. Another bill to add to your personal deficit.
Here is the warning: It appears to apply to the dealer tab on the screen
"“This application provides access to the DoT CARS system. When logged on to the CARS system, your computer is considered a Federal computer system and is the property of the US Government. Any or all uses of this system and all files may be intercepted, monitored, recorded, copied, audited, inspected, and disclosed to authorized CARS, DoT, and law enforcement personal, as well as authorized officials of other agencies, both domestic and foreign."
Some people are so damn naive. But then again look at who the majority elected as POTUS

Cash For Clunkers is another pretend to do something. If someone is driving a clunker, they certainly don't have the money to buy a new car.
ReplyDelete^^ exactly
ReplyDeleteI don't know the details of this US project, but here in France, the government gives money when you trade in your old (more than 10 years, I think) car which was most likely less efficient energy-wise. It helps clean -up and helps business and helps pay for a new car, I mean mine is 15 years old and I need to start looking, so any money off the sticker price is good IMHO.
ReplyDeleteI also think being below the tax line and getting some help is recognition that you are not all that wealthy--why shouldn't things be better distributed. Just because your job doesn't pay enormously doesn't mean you are not working and worthy.
Sigh....there is always someone out there who doesn't mind sacrificing others to their supposed needs. Thus we have programs like this. I posted this on my page as well. The government is getting too big for it's goddamn britches. We need to take to the streets and show them that this attempted violation of privacy...this trend of constantly chipping away at out individual rights...this...stealing from my family to help someone who I don't even know and who cannot or WILL not work to gain what they want in life...will NOT be tolerated. (Yeah...I'm pissed!)
