Last night was nice, the sound of the surf very soothing, interrupted only by the sometimes heavy rain...and today we awoke to fog, and then some clearing. Wandering up to Oregon's Cheese county, we visited Tillammok Cheese and Blue Heron Cheese(they make wonderful brie), and then back down the coast to Cape Meares(lighthouse), Cape Lookout(park) and Cape Kiwanda(lunch stop). Along the way we ventured off road, so I could use the 4wd in the sand, and then on to lunch.
Cape Kiwanda is actually Pacific city, which when we first visited nearly a decade ago, was a quiet, pretty sparsely populated place, and we had thought about buying land there, but didn't. It also is home of Pelican Brewing company, which operates a brew pub along with the brewery.
Pacific city has like the rest of the country experienced property value inflation. Stopped and looked a nice, but not extravagant 3 bedroom 2 bath near the beach, about 3 blocks away. Guesstimate was maybe 400 thousand, so HB jumped out and got a listing paper from the for sale sign- HOLY SNIKES!!! $899,999...almost a million dollars????
People at the restaurant said none of them lived in town, they just worked there...sad, but true.
Somehow, i don't know how, I have managed to spend most of my mad money, and i have 4 days to go. I guess i will have to tap into the old bank account via ATM...
