President Bill Clinton appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman last night and discussion of the Occupy Wall Street protests proved to be as interesting a recap as one might expect. The former president was generally very supportive of the movement, however he did not seem entirely impressed with the specific message currently coming from the protestors, summing up by saying “you need to be for something, not just against something,” before drawing comparisons to both the Tea Party and the Arab Spring.
weird...I guess not all Democratic politicians are insane...
Unlike republican politicians that do appear to all be insane.
ReplyDeleteJust admit it...both political parties suck. And the only way we get back freedom is to have viable alternative parties...problem is the American public has pretty much bought into a 2 party system, and pay lip service to alternate parties, because the elists that run the world will never support a multiparty American congress where coalitions of, for example, Greens, Libertarians, Peace and Freedom (or whatever) can sway the power and maybe get something done.
ReplyDeleteEven better would be NO parties, which is what the Founders desired.
Political parties did not exist in 1789. Washington despised the idea of political associations, formed in such a way as to pit one group of citizens against another.
And Washington was right
No matter what the system, the government is going to reflect the culture. We've been moving in a bad direction for a long time. I do think that the government is always a bit dumber than the populace, much because they are too far separated from the issues, especially the federal government.
ReplyDeleteHe only got sane after selling us all out with NAFTA.
ReplyDeleteFor something: It'd be nice if American politicians (above campaign contributions) and court justices were for the Constitution .
ReplyDeleteBoth the democrat party and the republican party are corrupted. Just look at the top contributors to both McCain and Obama; as I have said before. One could not tell the list apart it is so close. That translates into Congress and the White House and the Supreme Court has sold out to the corporations. It is why Obama's first task was the bailout. It is why we got mandated health insurance purchases, it is why Obama signed the Bush tax cuts back into place. When any party stays in power for as long as the democrats and republicans (since mid 1853) they are bound to become corrupted.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is the election process is as corrupted as our government is. There are billions of dollars to be made from elections and they are not going to give that up without a big fight. Did you know that states determine the election process? The Constitution does not state how elections are to be held, it is up to each state. States have kept legitimate candidates off of the ballot, forcing them to go through a petition process; another example of how the election process is corrupted. Furthermore, they are now changing it where you can not write in candidates, even in states that still have a paper ballot. Here there is a paper ballot that is counted electronically. It use to be you checked a write in box and wrote your candidate in. Those ballots were then hand counted for the write-ins. Not any more.
I have never understood why people give any credence at all to what a lying, philandering hillbilly says. But of course Clinton and the Left would be supportive of the movement.......overthrowing the nation is a common goal of both.
