Law 1: Update Conundrum - For every fix that a Windows Update patches, the update will break two more things on your PC
Law 2: Lost Time Variable - The likelihood that Windows will automatically install time-sucking critical updates is directly proportional to your need to get your PC started.
Law 3: Hard drive maxim –
Part I - The hard drive will always fail prior to the next backup
Part II - Your data will get corrupted just before you plug in your new backup external drive.
Part III - Your backup plan is only as good as your last successful restore.
Law 4: The number of USB ports will always be one fewer than you need at any given time.
Law 5: Feeling time pressure to make a computer fix quickly will cause it to take longer.
Law 6: When repairing hardware, if you close the case with screws before testing, it won't work; if you test before closing, it will.
I encounter Law #2 almost daily! You'd think a pop up could warn us before the computer just "went off lollygagging around" on its own!
ReplyDeleteAnother law: if you look at your computer wrong or breathe the wrong way while using it, it will break.
Add this one: At any moment, a perfectly running computer will for no apparent reason begin to to exhibit non-standard operations...
