What is on my mind...

I know a lot of people are like me very upset about our elected representatives voting in ( in spite of the majority of the American people) not just Health Care , and Education Lending "reform", the stimulus, nationalizing car companies etc.

What really makes me want to scream is that they did all of this in our name knowing that the ticking bomb called national debt is now going to explode on our heads because of what they have done.

No one in Washington seems to have ever heard of the Wiemar Republic, yet anyone that understands history knows that it the first really economic study of the effects of hyperinflation, brought on by poor monetary policy. So out esteemed Congress is wistfully piling on entitlement after entitlement, knowing that Social Security will now definitely be going broke, and that Medicare is already there. Their response...well we could raise taxes on those  evil rich people...well history seems to show that hiking taxes does not create a solution to run away spending, it only adds fuel to that fire.

  1. It is not quite accurate to say the car companies have been nationalised. I am assuming you are referring to the new General Motors Company where the federal government holds nearly 61 percent of the new company; however, Canada holds the rest. Furthermore, Ford Motor Company is still independent of any government ownership unless that has changed recently.

Many are arguing that we are no where near hyper inflation. However, I disagree, I think we are dangerously close to hyperinflation. So much in the economy is driven by the price of oil, and the price of petrol. Obama promised to work to reduce the speculation fed inflation of oil and petrol, yet has done nothing about it. When Obama took office, the average price of petrol at the pumps was around $1.63/gallon in the US. The average price of petrol at the pumps is now $2.80/gallon in the US. It is estimated that the average price by summer will be well over $3.00/gallon. These price increases have nothing to do with price and demand.

The health care reform bill is a clear example of the control that corporations have over the federal government, of the control they have over your elected officials in Congress. First of all, the drug companies and health care corporations quickly got into action to safe guard their position. As soon as they knew they were safe from any real health care reform, they jumped on the bandwagon behind the new health care reform bill. It is interesting to note that the ones that were directly targeted by the bill were rather silent throughout the debate. It appears the mandates to insure everyone, even those that come in sick, is not enough to outweigh the billions upon billions of new customers. Besides, the exemption from the antitrust laws and from trading across state lines still stood in place. The exchanges mention in the bill are nothing more than a listing of available insurance providers within one's state.

As for the redistribution of wealth, it is not a good idea for all the wealth in a nation to be in the hands of a few. Wealth equates to power and we are seeing how wealth is buying the federal government, is buying your elected officials to Congress. The French Revolution was about all the wealth in the hands of a few while the masses suffered abuses from those few holding all the wealth and power.

You asked, "Why did we become so lame as to elect people who serve themselves and not us, THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!" People are easily lead by someone promising them what they want to hear. They will eat the propaganda as if it is caviare served to them on a silver plate. Very few will be able to see pass the propaganda to the real truth. Look at how well Bush manipulated the people when he was in office, and even to this day when the truth is in the light of day. Why did people go out and vote for the Democrats when the Democrats sat in Congress giving Bush, a Republican, everything he wanted. Why didn't the Democrat controlled Congress impeach Bush for the Iraqi War? They impeach Clinton because he had sex with some woman, I would think lying to the United States Congress about weapons of mass destruction and starting a war without due justification, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of US soldiers not to mention all the civilian deaths in Iraq would be much more cause for impeachment than some president shagging some woman. Maybe the people will now wake up and see that Congress is owned by the corporations, and by the big religious organisations pouring millions into buying their share of Congress. I hope to see both Democrats and Republicans losing seat after seat, only then will we begin to regain control of Congress.
