A group of us knew this was coming from reading the press releases in the Philippines and from visiting the Indonesia Multiply site. Therefore, we got together to see about building a true replacement site for Multiply. A lot of people have panic and are moving in all directions. However, we are still serious about building a replacement site. ReplyDeleteI am holding on until I see where Multiply peeps generally go. (I have a sinking feeling it will be that FB-clone Google+, which is absolute trash---all they want is to cyber-stalk you for sending you junk emails).
ReplyDeleteI hope that the group Kimberly mentions will be successful in getting something started and that it thereafter thrives. (My horror story is that I'd be involved in running some such thing and poof, no more site...all gone!) Oh, well, I may just stop all this social networking stuff anyhow.
When you join sites that are run as businesses for the sole reason to make money, then they can go any time. FaceSucks may disappear tomorrow if they don't make the money; they are already in trouble because going public meant all the dirty little secrets have to be revealed; like 82 million junk accounts. I wonder how many abandon accounts they have, my guess it will pass the number of junk accounts double or triple fold.
ReplyDeleteIf the site is owned and operated by the users, then as long as the users are willing to support the site, the site will remain. If the users are not willing to do so, then maybe they need to be on FaceSucks getting sold useless junk.
