History - August 30, 2008

I am going to say the Cold War was definitely over in January 1992 when Gobachev said "The end of the Cold War is our common victory".

Now like the story line from a work of fiction, Russia invades the Republic of Georgia, annexs territory under the line of protection, and occupies a soverign nation weeks beyond a brokered "ceasefire accord"

Now our old friend Putin and his minions want to tell this bit of fairy tale to the world

Putin blames US for Georgia role

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has accused the White House of orchestrating the conflict in Georgia for domestic political reasons.

Meanwhile, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has met with Asian leaders at a summit of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, where countries expressed deep concern about events in Georgia and Moscow's recognition of its two breakaway republics.
