Anybody reading this is news to me, its like Multiply people are all off into other things...many are now almost solely in Twitter land or using the omnipresent Facebook, which has quickly surpassed MySpace and numerous other sites to be number 1, with over 200 million users...until the next NEW thing comes along..and with that in mind, have a look at the video
Maybe it is because Facebook posts are easy to read, no difficult low contrast text to strain one's eye. I really don't mean to be an arse here, but low contrast text is difficult to read, especially at small font sizes. What is wrong with using black text?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the real reason that Facebook and Twitter are so popular is that people are more into sound bites than actually having something real to say. Most people are idiots, and Facebook and Twitter is the perfect outlet for them. They can pop on and talk about getting drunk last night and screwing some stranger.
I have spent the last several years using Google Reader as the foundation of my on-line efforts. I rarely actually visit my Multiply Inbox, I have most of my contacts fed directly to GReader. If I see something interesting, I pop into that post and comment.
ReplyDeleteWith the addition of Buzz to Google Mail and linked directly to Google Reader, I connect with many of my on-line connections there. Google has incorporated Buzz into member's Profile Page as well ( http://www.google.com/profiles/wallace.lockhart#buzz ). If you scan my follower/following list, you may recognize a few Multiply members.
Keeping up with several hundred contacts there, several dozen here and nearly a thousand rss feeds in Google Reader has just about got me maxed out. GReader is the only way I can even begin to keep track of all that's going on ....
Canice, don't you ever stop posting here! And if you ever do, let me know where you go. You too Kimberly..
I realized I didn't need the music to get the content so muted that. :-) The video seems to be saying the world is changing--that's normal, anything alive changes and that the US is not the belly button.
ReplyDeleteComputational capabilities are not the most important ones we have as human beings. What is unique to us (and we are in danger of losing) are our spiritual qualities, being able to love, forgive, make peace, create.
I agree with secretcorners, "people are more into sound bites than actually having something real to say."
